Green-Aqua Peardop Labradorite Pendant
Wow! Now to try and find the words......
With the wind whistling about, I found a lovely spot in nature, and set about crafting a framework for this gorgeous, super-flashy piece of labradorite.
Of course, the colour changes, depending on the light, and surroundings, but for the most part, the bottom part of the gemstone is a light olive-green colour, with a gorgeous aqua-blue at the top.
On the left side, near the bottom, there's a very small area that, from certain angles, doesn't reflect the light in the same way as the rest of the face of the stone. It really doesn't detract from the overall appearance of this gorgeous crystal pendant, but there are many photos taken, with close-ups of the area, so you can see for yourself.
Approximate dimensions: Length 53.5mm Width 23mm Depth 5.5mm

The captivating beauty of labradorite is truly spectacular, and provided by the Schiller Effect, when vibrant, iridescent colours burst from within the stone as light strikes and reflects off it at just the right angle. These iridescent colourful flashes seem to open up magical portals inside, what can first appear to be, fairly nondescript stones.
For each Kathryn Jane Design creation, labradorite has been carefully selected so the greatest display of colour is when the stone is in an upright position, as when being worn as a pendant. When attempting to photograph labradorite pendants from the same direction the light is coming from, a shadow, and sometimes reflection, is cast over the highly polished surface of the stone’s face, making it very difficult to fully capture the glorious display of colour. The most success seems to be when photos are taken on a slight angle.
In different lighting conditions, some stones may appear grey, black or semi-transparent. The structure of labradorite consists of lines of cleavage within that can, at times, look like fractures that carry through to the surface of the stone. Most often, these lines are fully within the stone, beneath the smooth, highly polished surface.
An attempt has been made to photograph this pendant in a variety of natural lighting conditions, both indoors and out, without the colours showing, and then with the light revealing the amazing display of colour in all its magnificence. Guardian Angel Labradorite Pendant
Facing challenges, one step at a time, rejuvenating in Nature, knowing an angel has your back.
The striking patterns across the face of this labradorite crystal blended harmoniously with the criss-crossing branches of the trees overhead as I nestled down beside a babbling stream, bare feet in the water, crafting a simple but sturdy frame of sterling silver, enjoying the chorus of visiting piwakawaka, (NZ fantails), tuis, and paradise ducks. It wasn't until the pendant was complete, I noticed the angel on the reverse side. Of course, my imagination then had a lot of fun divining birds on the front and back of the beautiful stone, but the angel was the image that persisted.
Do you feel the call to get out in Nature, get your body moving and face challenges, one step at a time? It may feel like such a solo journey at times, but this pendant has a gorgeous way of reminding we're never alone - an angel has our back.

Olive-Green Ornate Vesica Piscis Labradorite Pendant
Stunning flashes of olive green are freely radiated from this divinely beautiful gemstone crystal pendant. The ornate spirals and swirls make this a truly unique and timeless jewellery item. The vesica piscis is rich in symbology, and certainly worthy of further research. Green-Gold Labradorite Pendant
This beautiful oval labradorite gemstone pendant beseeches us to seek further, beyond the veil. At first there's a hint of mystery, as if veiled in the mist, but when it catches the light, a brilliance of colour erupts from within - greens, golds, and an inky dark sash edged in electric blue. Life often asks the same of us - to pause, breathe, and go deeper.

Whether for yourself or a loved one, it would be an honour to create something unique and deeply meaningful, drawing from my range of carefully hand-selected shaped cabochons or tumbled freeform gemstones, or transforming your special taonga (favourite gemstone treasures) into stunning pieces of jewellery. Please be assured, your treasures will be handled with the utmost care and respect.
My creation time is sacred. Whenever possible, I venture into the heart of Nature to create, where the powerful, yet tranquil, energy most supports my intuitive creative process, all the while mindfully honouring the integrity and unique expression each gemstone crystal, and holding the highest intentions for you, the eventual recipient of the pendant.
To complete the wire-wrapping process, the individual ‘threads’ of the silver framework are gathered together and folded over to create an ankh-shaped loop from which the pendant will be suspended on a chain. This feels so highly symbolic – like gathering up and integrating the multiple facets of one’s life to form cohesion, supporting and framing an authentic expression of one’s unique self. In order for this glorious artistic expression to be transformed into a wearable pendant, the ends of the threads, (wires), need to be trimmed, then tethered securely to each other. I love the metaphor of this – the rich tapestry of our past experiences, growing through experiences that weren’t necessarily ‘pretty’, provides the strength and backbone that allows our lights to now shine so spectacularly.
All pendants are handcrafted with the greatest of care to find the balance between artistic expression on the outward facing side, with security and durability on the reverse.
Sometimes it can be difficult to choose which gemstone we'd like to wear as a pendant, because they are all so incredibly beautiful! If you'd like inspiration to help choose, oracle cards are available. Most commonly used are the Liquid Crystal Oracle by Justin Moikeha Asar.
The price to create your pendant will depend upon stone used, size, amount of silver used, intricacy of design, and time spent creating. Charges generally range from approximately $90 to $350. Contact me for further pricing details for your unique project.
